Day 32 (D-29) Arches National Park: A video

Day 32  (D-29) More on Arches National Park.  Today, a video.

Delicate Arch:
The treasured emblem of Arches National Park.

Delicate Arch is the most widely-recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on Utah license plates and on a postage stamp commemorating Utah's centennial anniversary of statehood in 1996. Delicate Arch is 16 meters tall.

The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.

Because of its distinctive shape, the arch was known as "the Chaps" and "the Schoolmarm's Bloomers" by local cowboys.

My best,
Jane
PS And if you would like to stay in Arches a little longer, go to VOA English here.  https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/americas-national-parks-arches/3551240.html

--The Chaps?  The Schoolmarm's Bloomers?  =  It will be your job to find the meaning of these nicknames for Delicate Arch.  Look at the photo of Delicate Arch and think about cowboys and what they wear.  Then go to the dictionary.
