Day 14 (D-47) Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

Day 14  Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Georgia O'Keeffe, her life, American modernism,  and her public engagement. It opened on July 17, 1997, eleven years after the artist's death and the collection is the largest permanent collection of O'Keeffe's work in the world.

We'll see her large-format flowers, skulls, and landscape paintings as well as paintings of architectural forms and rocks, shells, and trees.

As the director of the museum in this film says:

"Visitors in Santa Fe have the opportunity not only to see the artworks in the gallery, but they can actually get into the New Mexico landscape...being out in the quiet... and understanding how the landscape of New Mexico has been inspiring to artists for decades..."

If you would like to listen to him and visit the museum in the film, click here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkF8IzgoQpfbfFf8gSbPBIA
(3 minutes and 15 seconds is enough).

If you are taking this trip with me and prefer to wait until we get there, don't click!  If you are traveling in front of your computer, you might like to click here https://www.okeeffemuseum.org/about-georgia-okeeffe/
In fact, the travellers should look at this site too.  At the end of the written biography you can see the video my students watched after our visit to her exhibition at the Grenoble Art Museum in 2016.

My best,
Jane
