I'm so happy.  It's Toussaint holidays and students have time to send me more photos of their extraordinary trip to the American Southwest in June of 2019. It's Annie's turn today...and tomorrow...so be sure to return tomorrow! Such beautiful colors for this hummingbird in the ghost town, St Elmo, in Colorado. In the town of Silverton, in Colorado also, lucky to be rich is for anyone who tries.  When a dream becomes reality...it becomes magic in this part of the world.  Such a wonderful sight! Thank you Annie. My best, Jane

Their photos, and a "Thank you Jane for this beautiful trip!"  In the train, with Nadyne, our guide.  Songs for great memories.   ( I wish I had remembered to sing  "O my darling Clementine"  with all of you that morning. )  Jane, in the cockpit, ready to fly over Lake Powell. WOW! What a hot day, in Phoenix at Taliesin West, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's homes. Monique and Edouard

Road signs and Cacti

Image
Another Jean, Jean B. shares these two photos:  On our way from Page to Phoenix we happened to drive a few miles on route 66. This is the picture of the crossroad with plenty of  roadsigns : A symbol of so many things to see, to remember and to discover in the US, a fascinating endless adventure … In the Phoenix Botanical Garden one could find sustainable skyscrapers. Of course those saguaros skyscrapers do not  have so many windows and dwellers as in Chicago or San Francisco buildings, but food ( prickly pears )  is available     « on site ». Piano player or player piano?

Image
Thanks Jean C.   You'll be the one to get the ball rolling. Thanks for sharing this first photo. In a saloon in Silverton, Colorado, listening to this lovely piano player. My best, Jane _____________________________ -- to get the ball rolling =   To set something, often a process, in motion; to begin.  -- What is the play on words? What is the difference between a "piano player" and and "player piano"?

Returning to the blog

Image
Hello everyone, Autumn is here.  This blog has finished its summer vacation... I blew out my birthday candles yesterday.... and the blog is ready to open again! The American Southwest, June 18th - July 2nd, 2019. We returned with so many photos, such good memories... Such a wonderful trip!  Now is the time to start sharing our experience/photos with everyone.  And it's time for the students themselves to be the makers of this blog.  Their photos, their comments. Participation will be from time to time, as I wait for them to send me their photos with short write-ups .   Let me get started with a few random group photos.  Here we are at The Great Sand Dunes in Colorado.  Dancing in Santa Fe!   Such fun !    This photo and the next one:  We are visiting Georgia O'Keeffe's house/workshop.   Such a beautiful house.  We also took the train!  Durango-Silverton.   See Day 22 (D-39)  of this blog.    And we were ALWAYS EATING!

Home! Happy Trails to you!

What a fabulous trip!  We just got home!  We left our hotel in Phoenix at 3:45 a.m. on Monday July 1st, 2019.  First, a 4 1/2-hour flight to Newark, a 4-hour stop-over there, then our 9-hour flight to Geneva where our bus was waiting for us.  We arrived in Grenoble at 10:30 Tuesday morning, June 2nd...which was 2:30 in the morning for us.  A very long day!   This blog will come back to life in the autumn so that those who went on the trip can share their photos and comments with you. Enjoy the memories; enjoy your summer everyone! And Happy 4th of July today! My best...and a song:  Jane Happy Trails to you!    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgw_yprN_-w Again here, with lyrics:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvBFlQNcwtI Happy Trails to you, Until we meet again Happy Trails to you Keep smiling' until then. Who cares about the clouds if we're together? Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. Happy Trails to you 'til we meet again

It’s time now to say “Bon Voyage!”
