Image
I'm quite certain that no one is reading this at 3 o'clock in the morning, but that is our time to get going to the bus station in Grenoble as our coach for Geneva Airport leaves at 4 a.m. So here we are at the last day of this blog.  Before signing off, thank you all for having taken this first trip, the blog trip, with me.  You can return whenever you like and wherever in the blog that you like.  Just click on Archive at the left.  There you can choose the month, April, May or June, and the Day that you would like to look at.  On your smartphones, click the menu bar (   which is also called a hamburger button   ) and you will find Archive. đŸ˜€SOMETHING EXTRA: Our first state: Colorado!  --->  Here's a funny video about one Frenchman who went to Colorado and decided to stay there!    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhfipv8LXRg   đŸ˜† I look forward, after the “real” trip, to my travelers sharing their experience ...

The American accent. 1.  Do you recognize the voice in this recording?  I like his message!      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVNarSZjPn8 And do you know this song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU2eD5dl5ME   Yes, we all have an accent!  Americans are no different !  Here are three interesting lessons to practice your American accent.  You don't need to watch them all on the same day.  There are fun pronunciation exercises to do. 1.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dasuQ9u8i0 /i/  (like "beach" );   / I/  (like "bitch"!!)  It's important not to make the mistake! 2.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdOgNXwCUYE    the American "t" sounds like "d" 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwgEY2JJXV8    4.  Here, you can type a sentence in English, choose one of the American speakers (VOICE), and then listen.   http://www.ttsdemo.com SO , HAVE FUN! Day 57 (D-4) A little practical information: TIME / MONEY / TEMPERATURE

Image
LONG AGAIN TODAY. BUT PRACTICAL, USEFUL, HELPFUL. 1. TIME : You remember that there are 8 hours difference between Grenoble and Denver. They are 8 hours BEHIND us. Their workday begins when ours finishes. So, that means when we arrive at 19h (7 p.m.) local time, it will in fact for our weary bodies be 3 a.m. the following day. So we'll probably go straight to bed as soon as we arrive at the hotel! ____________________________ 2. MONEY : Today's rate of exchange shows that $1 = 89 euro centimes. I did the multiplication for you here, but it's easiest to consider $1 is 10% less than 1 euro.  So if you buy Navajo turquoise souvenir  jewellery that costs $75, that means you are approximately spending 75-7.5 = 68.5€ (exactly 66.50€).   But with today's smartphones, we can quickly have the exact equivalent!!  Google "dollar euro exchange rate"!  However, it is a good idea to use our brains from time to time! DOLLARS  $1 = .89 €...
